Reflection and Transmission of Inhomogeneous Plane Waves in Thermoelastic Media

We study the reflection and transmission coefficients of plane waves incident at an interface between two isotropic thermoelastic half spaces compare them with those elastic case. The models include classical-Biot (B) extended Lord-Shulman (LS) theories, predict reflected transmitted fast-compressional (P), thermal (T) shear (S) waves. are formulated in terms incidence inhomogeneity angles, medium properties potential functions. consider different wave types angles to analyze magnitude, phase energy ratio waves, perform a comparison isothermal (elastic) theory. partitions P S modes, satisfying conservation energy. LS model exhibits higher T-wave attenuation increasing angle high frequencies, accordingly predicting more interference affects partitions, particularly critical near grazing for wave, which satisfies Beyond angle, flux perpendicular vanishes, while it is significant magnitudes increase when conductivity (relaxation time) increases.
